Spring Break 2007

My parents took my sister Eden and brother Truman (the only two children still at home now, since Ethan left on his mission to Milan, Italy last week) to Myrtle Beach, SC for thier March break last week. They were kind enough to invite us to join them so we met up with them there last weekend. The resort that we stayed at had its own private beach which was very beautiful and Liam ran straight in despite the fact that the water was not at all warm yet. He has no fear when it comes to water, especially the ocean. He and Eden had a great time splashing togethor. Saturday also happened to be my mom's birthday so we went to what is probably her favourite restaurant in the whole world...Captain George's. She first went to one years ago in Williamsburg, Va. (there is a location in Virginia Beach as well) and we never pass up a chance to go if we are in the area. It is a seafood buffet that specializes in really amazing all you can eat crab legs. It was delicious. Afterwards we went mini golfing which was actually a lot of fun, Liam really liked it.

Sunday morning we went to Sacrament meeting and then went to check out Huntington Beach, National Park where we saw an aligator and some HUGE blue crabs in thier natural habitat (as opposed to my plate). This park is also the site of Atalaya, the former home of Archer and sculpture Anna Hyatt Huntington, which we toured as well. The sand dunes there were remarkable as well. Afterwards we went back to the condo and had dinner as well as Mom's birthday cake. It was a great family weekend and we got home Monday afternoon.

Welcome back to blogging! Sounds like a wonderful vacation. A perfect mix of things to interest the kids and the adults. I love the name Eden! It was one of the names I wanted if we were having another girl. I like that it's biblical...kind of works with Miriam.

Amanda, I saw the pictures yesterday, but was headed somewhere with Dad and didn't get to read the commentary until today. By the way, that is a very cute picture of your family and a great one of your parents. You should get that one framed. The beach looks so fun, and I love that Liam is so "not" afraid.
