It's Not Over

A free concert. What does that really mean? It means enjoy everything until it gets too crazy and then go home. So that is what we did.

Last night Downtown Greensboro had a free concert in order to impress the NCAA committee. Right now it is between Greensboro and Cleveland for the 2012 Women's Final Four. Good news is, Chris Daughtry is from the area and he was willing to do just that. If you don't know his music, it is country rock. We had a great time, but towards the end, it got a little crazy. The budget was 8,000 people, and at 9pm, it was announced that the crowd had exceeded 23,000. So that was when we decided to wait for Chris to sing a few songs and then we wouild leave. By the time we left, the crowd was very dense, and the beer smelled just terrible.

At this point you probably think we are terrible parents. However in our defense, and all the other families present, it was advertised as a famliy event. However, there were many beer stands selling booze for $4 with a one drink maximum. There was a sweaty guy in an Ohio St. jersey who just reeked of booze. Don't tell me that was from just one beer. So as we left we felt very lucky that we were not trampled. In fact no one heaved on us or the kids, so it could have been worse. So the next time an even like this is planned, and tickets cost 10-20 bucks, I will know that it is not to make a profit, it is to keep an area from beeing flooded witha sea of people half families and half redneck.

My hat is off to Daughtry. He has a broad fan base.

Wow that was a wild night out for the Buchanan Bunch. I'm happy you made it through with no cuts or abrasions. Wow 23,000 wild fans!
