Fall Festival
This afternoon I took the boys to a free fall festival that was taking place at Bur Mill Park, which is a local recreation area that has a really nice swimming pool in the summer, a golf course and driving range, a wildlife education center and hiking trails. Bevan needed to study so we dropped him off at school and headed over to the park which is on the outskirts of the city limits. The entrance to the park was packed and thier were cars everywhere, we had to park really far away and had to walk a long to distance to the event. I kept thinking "Wow, there are so many people here, this must be a great festival"...then I finally got to the party and couldn't believed I had bothered fighting the crowds to get to it! There wasn't much going on at all. There was a face painting booth with about a 45 min. wait, a rock climbing wall which you had to pay for and isn't exactly something Liam would go for, hayrides (also with a really long line), some food vendors and a few wildlife groups educating about mostly local animals (although one lady did have a little aligator for the kids to see and I am pretty sure we don't have any of those but I guess you never know...). Luckily we ran into some good friends we hadn't seen in a while and got to visit with them otherwise it would have been a total bust. So Liam and his friend Sarah made a bird feeder out of recycled coke bottles at a booth sponsored by the Audobon Society and then we decided to get in line for the Hay ride which was the only thing Liam was even remotely interested in, aside from Sarah. We waited for 45 min. only to have a bunch of people jump line in front of us!! Honestly, what are people teaching thier children? When we did finally get on our driver was driving the tractor crazy fast and swerving all over the trail, which I am guessing he thought was fun for the kids but was really just terrifying. Someone had to ask him to please stop driving like that because the children were afraid...and so were the adults for that matter...I was. So anyhow, thats that I guess. It was a beautiful day and we got to spend some time with good friends so in the end I guess that is all that matters. Here are some pictures of Liam and Sarah with thier birdfeeders, Asher being cute in the stroller and we tried to get a picture taken of the boys and I on the hay ride, but niether of them were to interested in looking at the camera.

You know that is what I call an adventure for two little boys and their mom. I'm glad that you ran into Kit (yes, I'm asuming) and her kids. It's nice to share an adventure with a friend.
Bruce and I have decided that festivals are just not what they're cracked up to be. It's nice that they're free and all, but I guess you get what you pay for. Of course, we paid $10 a person to get into a BBQ Competition/Festival in Birmingham and were sorely disappointed. All we got to do was walk around and watch other people cooking and eating their own BBQ. We had to pay for a BBQ dinner from a vendor and it turned out to be horrible. Bruce couldn't even finish the ribs and he eats anything!
