Memphis Trip

My plane left a little late from Greensboro, and it caused me to miss my flight from Memphis to Indianapolis by just 5 minutes. So I was told to go to B35 where some people would get me on a different flight. I was supposed to be in Indianapolis by the next morning, so I was willing to go on 2 or 3 connections all night to get there. If not, get a greyhound or Amtrak. I mean, Indianapolis is like a 5 hour drive. And the time was only 8:00 PM. So I had plenty of time.
Well the solution they had was to fly me out to Atlanta at 7 AM, and then to Indianapolis. I would get to my destination by Noon. Well 4 hours late is not so bad. The airline booked me in the Marriot East. It is nice! I also got some dinner vouchers. So I went downstairs and had some Memphis Style BBQ Ribs. Sweet BBQ is not my favorite, but it tasted great (after 5 years in NC, I am sold on Eastern Carolina BBQ).
During dinner I unfortunately witnessed the Tar Heels lose to Oregon State in the CWS for the second straight year in a row! Ironically enough, the one great pitcher that Carolina had last year is now playing for the Detroit Tigers. So after the game, ESPN2 covered the Tigers/Braves game. And that same pitcher, Andrew Miller, pitched a shutout against Atlanta. But nothing hurt worse than to find out that Reggie Theus will not return to New Mexico State. He got a job with the Sacramento Kings. Reggie, I have two words, “La Posta” y no hay tostadas compuestas en Sacramento.
So then I get to the airport and I find out that I am in zone 1. So I get to board first. And look, they have a little Dasani water bottle for me on my seat. Man these seats are big. And how polite the flight attendants are! They got me an orange juice right away! Then I realized, I was in first class. I like first class. I get more than one drink, I get to use my cell phone, and in case of an emergency, I will be the first to be saved! They didn’t actually say the last one, but you know it is true. Didn’t you see Titanic?
Anyway, when I was in Memphis at gate B35, the lady said that I was very polite and a good sport. So I didn’t think it meant anything. But apparently, she had given me the hookups. And there were a lot of others who had missed a flight, and they didn’t exactly get a good room or a good flight.
